Challenge #422

Just LOOK who hopped down from the tree house/bar/breakfast diner:

Yay, so exciting! It's only our super-star Prefect and 'Chief Mischief Maker' Sarn, who is our Guest Designer for this challenge, with a brilliant snippets card. No doubt subtly advertising her 'soon to be opened in the Playground' coffee and cookies venture, sigh!

I think this card is brilliant and so perfectly made - for all the 'low down' on how Sarn made it, do hop over to her blog HERE

And here's the prize for this fortnight:

You have two chances to win this lovely Tattered Lace sentiment die called 'Love & Laughter'. One was donated by Jackie T and the other one is from me. It's so pretty and I do love the wording. I intended to make a sample using my own (unopened) die but feel that someone else will appreciate it more - plus it doubles the chances of you winning! This lovely die measures approx. 8.9cm x 7.9cm and Tattered Lace dies always cut beautifully and drop out of the dies easily due to the non stick coating.

As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 5th March. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day. Mr Linky is below this post.

MESSAGE FOR EU PLAYMATES. It has come to my attention that at least 2 EU playmates were incorrectly charged customs and handling fees in order for their Grand Draw Prize to be delivered to them. This is despite me stating on the CNN form that the contents of the package were a GIFT and the value of it was less than the 22 Euro limit.

For now, I will continue to post prizes abroad, but please note that if your country's postal system wrongly charges you VAT and an 8 Euro handling charge, it is not my fault, and, I'm afraid it will be your responsibility to pay them in order to receive the prize! It seems there is little point in querying the fees and any complaints are just swept under the carpet.

If it continues to be a problem, then I may need to rethink the whole issue of sending prizes out of the UK.

A little reminder that as from 25th February to the end of the month it's ScrappyMo's Rudolph Days challenge - remember it's a short month of only 28 days!

Huge thanks to Sarn for being our Guest Designer for this challenge!

Love and hugs from Dudley and Di, xx

  7. Wow, what a beautiful card by Sarn! I do enjoy the coffee theme! This is awesome! I just linked up my card, but I'm playing just for fun this time. Thank you for the awesome die, and double chances for winning, but it looks a bit too intricate for me. Best wishes to all!

  10. Great to see the mischievous Sarn as Chief Playmate/Guest Designer this time and I love her her takeaway coffee cup with the pretty pattern and heart, and mines a latte...hot thought not iced..lol. I will be playing just for fun if I get my card in as I am a bit boring when it comes to sentiments and I think there are lots of others who will love to use the two on offer, and lovely of Jackie T to donate one as a prize. x

  17. Sarn's card is so beautiful and I just love the artsy look of stenciling, stamping, and ink splatters. As for the new coffee bar in the playground, I hope it stays open in the afternoon because I am not a morning person and won't make it there by breakfast time. Of course, if the pastries are yummy enough, I might make an exception! Playing just for fun this time as I'm all thumbs when it comes to intricate dies and sentiments. I get more glue on my fingers and the card base than on the die cut.

  18. Well I made it back again. I agree about the tax and sorry Di, marking a parcel Gift does not exempt it from tax since Brexit and all EU countires are within their rights to charge it, but it is a bit of a lottery whether or not they do! So I will be playing for fun unless I want something badly enough to risk the 5-10€ tax. (I have already been caught once on a Rydolph day prize). But I will join in when I can. It is always nice to see what others have created and to share our own work. Kate xx

    1. Well that shocks me Kate about the customs. An English guy in France fought back against the French customs and had his tax on a family gift refunded, plus the fee they charge plus his costs to send his claim by registered post. That's really very naughty to allow countries to ignore their own legislation - I'm now an expert on the Netherlands customs regs. and their rules are very clear - yet seemingly ignored! Not to worry - it's a real delight to have you here playing again and of course I could always post any prizes to whoever in your family will be over next to visit you ...... so they can bring it with them. Vee haf our vays! I'll be back to comment on your entry asap! The slow cooker and dinner is calling me right now! Di xx

    2. SARN; thanks for the offer of coffee but I am one of those rare folk who never touches coffee. Now if you have a pot of tea brewing that is quite differnt. I never say no to that. Kate x

  25. Great card, Sarn. Makes me need a coffee. Do you deliver? :)
Di, I'm playing just for fun this time. And I'm sorry to hear about the postal issues. We've had them here in the Midwest of the USA, too. It can take a week for a card I sent to a friend one state away to it. However, a friend that works at the post office recently said that they are so short staffed right now that there are days they can't begin to get everything delivered even if they all work overtime. We are also having trouble filling positions at my agency, too. I can't wait for life to return to "normal" again... whatever that will look like!

Take care Di... sad re strict EU. I seng parcel to France. Printed matter cost me nearly $45 to mail. Marked guft low cost as twas. French post charged 20 euros tax or extra post was confused which so my friends hubby refused it and back it came.

They really had no roght to do it but there it isi immediately mailed items off elsewhere and one item back to my friend.
Nihhty night as almost midnight here. Giant prayer hugs, pray you're all well. Love Shaz in Oz.x
