Results of Challenge #427

Hello Playmates, Sarn here . . .

Thanks for dropping by to see the results of Challenge 427.

I was pretty worn out from all that Maypole dancing and cocktail drinking, which made the job of picking three entries to showcase EVEN HARDER! There were so many lovely projects to choose from - but here's my 3 Top Picks in order of entry:

I love the card below, made by KATH, which uses up lots of leafy die-cut snippets made to look like flower petals with the addition of a centre circle for the sentiment. This card just says SPRING to me!

CHRISTA made a wonderful circular card (below) with traditional clogs on it in support of a friend who has taken in a Ukrainian refugee. If you nip over to her blog, you'll see the tiny clog key ring she crocheted too!

I chose SUE'S scrapbook page (below) not only because I think it's a great layout, but also because it shows how to use up some of your larger snippets. I don't do scrapbooking, but I can see it's a fab way to document your memories.

If you're one of the "picks", please feel free to collect a 'Top Picks' badge from HERE.

Next: the Prize Draw . . . drum roll please . . . the WINNER of the embossing folder and stamp set is entry No. 13 - Pat from Colourful Card Creations.
Congratulations Pat. Please claim your prize by sending an email to the Snippets Playground using the address shown on the right hand sidebar, with PLAYGROUND WINNER in the subject line. Please add your FULL NAME above your ADDRESS so that it can be copied and pasted for speed and ease.

There's still nearly a week left to run on the current challenge - just scroll down to the previous post to find it.

Hugs, Sarn xxx

Challenge #428

Well, we had a bit of a mixed bag of weather for the May Day Celebrations - I almost dread to think what Sarn will dream up for our Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Which reminds me, must order some bunting and other bits and pieces as, no doubt, things will get to fever pitch very shortly.

Ha, my challenge to Sarn is a red, white and blue cocktail for the Playground celebrations! I'll make the Coronation Chicken sandwiches - and Dudley can be Chief Taster!

Straight onto my snippets card:

All the 'how I made it' details are over on my own Pixie's blog, HERE, should you want to know more.

The prize for this fortnight is several stamps/stamp sets:

They are all made by Little Claire (sadly no longer trading, but I loved their stamps) and they come as ONE single bundle. The stamps were kindly donated by Sue of Zouave Cards, along with loads of other goodies yet to be offered. Thank you so much again Sue.

As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 28th May. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day. Mr Linky is below this post.

The latest news of Dudley is also over on my own Pixie's blog post for today - HERE. He's getting too clever for his own good!

Love and hugs from Dudley and Di, xx

Results of Challenge #426

Here's hoping we haven't seen the last of the recent warmer weather we've been having - the past few days were pretty gloomy, despite all the pretty Spring flowers bursting into life. Thankfully we've since had some sunshine here - yay!

Straight onto the 'picks' now:

Val came to play with this really great card - a set of shelves with lots of lovely books to read - plus a sleeping kitty, aw so cute. Lots of lovely snippets used and a lot of detailed work as well! Lovely card.

What a great card, made by Caroline (KISS). to celebrate her daughter gaining a PhD. She certainly is a super star and Caroline brought such a great way to use up plenty of different coloured snippets - this is a design I think you might want to try for yourselves?

I do so love this card, it made me really have the giggles. Made by Lynne in NI, a super fun card and great use of snippets. I giggled all the more when I read further and discovered that the 'parachute' half deployed is actually the bunny's ears!

It reminds me very much of a guy I've nicknamed the 'Red Baron' who has started up his annual 'flights for thrills' from a nearby airfield. At times I'm sitting here, emailing Sarn on Snippets business, whilst waiting for the Red Baron, doing his 'loop the loops' complete with white silk scarf, to end up looking at me with a sheepish expression ..... with his plane's cockpit embedded through my craft room window.

And as a grand finale - perhaps we need an extra prize for 'using up your oldest snippets'! Karen (Ladd) recalled punching a load of these hexagons - and it turns out to be closer to 20 years than the 10 years ago she originally thought! But, it does show all the more how we really ought to hang onto every scrap of card and paper we can for future use! A lovely card as well Karen - even if we had to wait a while ☺

As always, we had some great entries. If you're a pick, please always feel free to collect your 'Top picks' badge from the 'Badges' page.

Onto the prize draw, set of dies and stamp set kindly donated by Brenda of 'Floral Fantasies'. And the winner is:

Glennis

To claim your prize, please send me an email using the Snippets Playground email address shown on the RH sidebar, with PLAYGROUND WINNER (or similar) in the subject line. Please add your FULL NAME above your home ADDRESS so that I can copy and paste it for speed and ease.

The current snippets challenge still has almost a further week to run - just scroll down to the previous post to find it.

For news of Dudley - go and peek at 'Pixie's' over HERE. He's still nosing around, and reporting back, in the Playground - but I keep his more personal stories, adventures and updates on my own Pixie's blog now. I do know that flying around on Maypoles make him 'car sick dizzy' - don't even go there!

Love from Di and Dudley (Mister W-B) xxx

Challenge #427

Hello Playmates!

Can you believe it's my turn to host the next fortnight's Snippets Playground Challenge again! These fortnights sure fly by! Managed to avoid detention after the first time I hosted, so all is well!

Hey girls . . . it's May Day here in the UK and I just discovered that Miss Di has been busy making flower head dresses all week and has erected a huge Maypole in the middle of the Playground. So, who wants to wear flowers in their hair, grab a Maypole Ribbon and dance around? Anyone? I'm IN! Miss Di has even got Dudley kitted out in a special neckerchief and he's happy to dance along with us (for treats!).

Before the dancing starts, here's my homework - a little card made entirely of snippets - full details on my own blog HERE if you're interested in making a zigzag card.

The prize for this fortnight (pictured below) is a lovely embossing folder and a beautiful floral stamp set, both kindly donated by Sandma. (Thanks again Sandma!). Both sets make up one prize and won't be split.

If you feel inspired to make something with your snippets, then please come and join in the fun, and dance around the Maypole (it's going to be in place all fortnight). Please remember to check the RULES HERE - as Di and I have noticed a few entrants have not said which snippets have been used in their project. Detentions may be handed out for non-compliance!

As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks and the Playground gates will clang shut at 11am UK time on Saturday, 14th May 2022. The gates will reopen for the next Challenge at midnight the same day. Mr Linky is below this post.

Hugs from Sarn x

Results of Challenge 425

Hello Playmates - Sarn here!

Thanks for dropping by to see the results of Challenge 425.

It's incredibly difficult to whittle your lovely entries down to just three, so I gave up trying and took the liberty of choosing FOUR (praying I don't get detention for doing so!). Here they are in order of entry:

Sandra H made this rather cool and classy masculine card. Masculine cards are something I struggle with and Sandra made it look effortless! How? HOW????

Next, Carol L used a sketch and punched out a load of flowers from snippets, adding them to little snippet squares of paper. I love the layout and all the pretty flowers. Keep up the deep breathing Carol!

Pauline C - bought some lovely spring flowers to the Playground with her wonderful triptych card. Lovely layering with both snippets AND ink! A very cheerful card.

And last, but certainly not least, Inkami patiently folded nine little snippets into envelopes and added them to a square card to make the following little gem:

On to the prize draw - the winner of the two Crafty Individual stamp sets is:

SUZANNE H

Congratulations Suzanne. To claim your prize, please send me an email using the Snippets Playground gmail address shown in the right hand sidebar, with PLAYGROUND WINNER (or similar) in the subject line. Please add your FULL NAME above your home ADDRESS so that it can be copied and pasted for speed and ease.

Challenge #426

Hopefully you're all having a pleasant Easter weekend, and that the weather is being kind to all of us! Been pretty warm/ verging on hot here for the past couple or more days. I suspect that Sarn has left the makings of a few cocktails up in the tree house for you all, should you wish to partake.

Straight onto my snippets card:

All the 'how I made it' details are over on my own Pixie's blog, HERE, should you want to know more.

The prize for this fortnight is:

A set of Sizzix thinlets dies called 'Susan's Garden' plus a set of Marianne 'Summer' stamps - both kindly donated by Brenda of Floral Fantasies. Thank you so much again Brenda.

As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday 30th  April. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day. Mr Linky is below this post.

The latest news of Dudley is also over on my own Pixie's blog post for today - HERE. He's such a source of laughter to us. Goodness know we need it with all that's going on in the world.

This was our lovely friend Bernie's really cute Easter sign off whilst she was still with us and blogging. She is still very much missed by so many of us who knew her:

Results of Challenge #424

It's really wonderful to see you all welcoming Sarn as one half of 'Team Snippets Playground'. Good move wasn't it - and for me it's such a delight to be working with her.

Let's crack straight on with the 'picks' first:

I picked this delightful Easter card, made by Christa, as the whole design is really lovely and the colour matching to the designer paper background is sheer perfection!

Here's a brilliant idea, shared by Linby. What a perfect way to use up lots of little snippety images inside a frame die cut. Very clever!

This gorgeous card, made by Carol G,  is so beautiful. Great bokeh background and very dramatic with the lovely silhouette flowers as well!

Marvellous use of absolutely loads of different snippets, brought to share with us by Caroline (KISS). Even the teeny little animals were fussy cut - the detail is amazing! A really lovely card.

As always, we had some great entries - 47 in total as well! If you're a pick, please always feel free to collect your 'Top picks' badge from the 'Badges' page.

Onto the prize draw, the Clearly Besotted 'prize bundle'. And the winner is:

Helen

To claim your prize, please send me an email using the Snippets Playground gmail address shown on the RH sidebar, with PLAYGROUND WINNER (or similar) in the subject line. Please add your FULL NAME above your home ADDRESS so that I can copy and paste it for speed and ease.

The current snippets challenge still has almost a further week to run - just scroll down to the previous post to find it.

Dudley's beautiful coat is already beginning to grow back - as are his peachy coloured silky ears. Len has spent a fair bit of time resting his back since waking up on Friday morning, having possibly slept awkwardly - and Dudley just curls up beside him to keep an eye on him! I might start hiring his services out as a 'Caring Dog/Nurse'! ☺

Love from Dudley (Mister W-B) and Di xxx

Good grief - and a wave of something, plus a yodel from Sarn, up in the tree house!Looks suspiciously like she's been printing off and laminating a cocktail menu!

Challenge #425

Hello Snippets Playmates - Sarn here!

I've polished my Prefect's Badge and put my shoes on the correct feet for a change! Even managed to tie-up my own shoe laces (I'm coming along in leaps and bounds!).

As mentioned in the previous Challenge post - Di and I have joined forces, and, from now on, we'll be playing tag, taking it in turns to host the fortnightly challenges here in the Snippets Playground.

I'll still be getting up to all sorts of mischief in the treehouse, or behind the back of the bike sheds. The change means that Di will be able to put her feet up and relax in one of the nice comfy chairs in the Treehouse, while sipping a "Sarn Special" Mojito! No doubt she'll be sporting a cocktail umbrella in her hair while Playground Pup, Dudley, will be curled around her feet, keeping a watchful eye on us all!

So then, for my first official piece of homework, I went to town and emptied out a small drawer of snippets to make as many cards as I could. See below:

If you want to see a bit more about how I made these cards, please feel free to drop by my blog

There are a couple of lovely Crafty Individuals stamp sets making up the prize for this fortnight's challenge, both kindly donated by Sandma. (Thanks Sandma!). Both sets make up one prize and won't be split.

Di and I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone for all their support and congratulations on our new partnership. Let the mischief begin carry on!

Just before you run off to make a snippets card - you might want to skip over to fellow playmate Sue, of Zouave Cards. She is having a craft room clear-out and is giving away two lovely bundles of Little Claire stamps. If you live in the UK, all you have to do is leave a comment on her blog post here.

As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday, 16th April. The gates will re-open at midnight UK time on the same day. Mr Linky is below this post.

Results of Challenge #423

Spring is sprung! Hooray for a few days of lovely sunshine here.  Did those of you in the UK (and any other places affected) remember to change your clocks? Spring forward - which means we lose an hour's sleep.

Here are the results of the final Ruby's Memory Challenge, with the 'picks' first:

This is such a clever card, made by Karen (Ladd). To see it open, do hop over to Karen's blog post HERE - a really great design, beautifully made (and 'constructed' too!) and of course plenty of snippets used. Love it!

This is just one of three cards that Janis made after a good rummage through her scraps/snippets etc. So good to see a real selection of cards appearing as if by magic out of 'bits and bobs'!

So that was two picks featuring St Patrick's Day cards - and my final pick is a Mother's Day card:

Vicky made this really elegant card from a few snippets of flowers she'd previously coloured. I do love how Vicky happily shows what she began her project with and then tells how she set about making the card. Her idea for the 'Mother's Day' part of the sentiment is genius! You'll need to pop over to find out ☺

As always, we had some great entries. If you're a pick, please always feel free to collect your 'Top picks' badge from the 'Badges' page.

Onto the prize draw, that lovely trio of Easter Egg holders, also really useful for card fronts. And the winner is:

Liz

To claim your prize please send me an email using the Snippets Playground gmail address shown on the RH sidebar, with PLAYGROUND WINNER (or similar) in the subject line. Please add your FULL NAME above your home ADDRESS so that I can copy and paste it for speed and ease.

The current snippets challenge still has almost a further week to run - just scroll down to the previous post to find it.

We finally reached the £300 target for the USPCA Rescue Centre in Northern Ireland - well done once again to all of you who donated prizes.

Next week it will be Sarn writing the blog post for the new Challenge #425. So there won't be a Dudley 'Pupdate' on here - but I propose to still write about Dudley over at Pixies if there's anything to report when I'm taking it a bit easier. And of course on here when it's my turn to write posts. So do still pop into Pixies if you see a post appear on your reading list. If it's anything important then Sarn will let you know to pop over - but it's only fair that Sarn's posts are hers alone. And really, Dudley's tails tales are mine to tell of course. Mind you - I'm still not too sure where his loyalties truly lie, he will happily cover up high jinx in return for treats! I have eyes in the back of my head - as my Mum always used to say when I was into mischief. ☺

Dudley won't pose for photos right now (has only just stopped wearing a paper bag over his head during his walks) - but the fun still goes on. He wears a very sweet harness when he goes out for walks and his latest trick upon hearing the rattle of his harness, collar (legal requirement in the UK and it has his ID tag on) and lead is to dive onto our bed and lie on his back playing possum! It's like trying to knit with spaghetti manipulating a harness onto an upside down and very uncooperative pooch! Then, as soon as the harness and collar are on him - he hops up as if to say - 'OK, I had my fun, let's go!' And off he trots quite happily.

Edit - result! On Friday afternoon, Len managed to catch Dudley whilst they were playing chase/fetch the ball (Dudley here, 'you gotta be kidding me - I don't do fetch').

See, I wasn't kidding about his ears having to be cut short after the nasty matt removal, but they will grow back and still be peach and silky soft and at least he still has his plume of a tail ☺ The other day, post massacre, a lady passing by said 'Hello gorgeous' - we're pretty sure she was referring to Dudders, although I did detect a slightly hopeful 'preen' from Mister Len!

Love from Dudley (Mister W-B) and Di xxx
