Results of Challenge #459

Hello Playmates - Sarn here - popping back in the middle of Di's challenge, to share my Top Picks and the prize winner for Challenge 459.

Here are my top picks (in entry order):

Meg bought this lovely white and silver Christmas card along to the Playground. Great composition of the die cut elements and I love the extra little touch of embossing behind everything.

Next up, I chose Carrie Ann's beautiful card in traditional colours:

My third pick is Kate L's jolly card. I love the simplicity of it and the fabulous large sentiment.

If you've been showcased, please feel free to collect your 'Top Pick' badge from HERE.

Onto the winner of the Christmas bundle of goodies, and it's lucky No. 13 for:

HELEN

Congratulations Helen. Please claim your prize by sending your name and address details via email using the Snippets Playground email address shown in the sidebar, with PLAYGROUND WINNER in the subject line.

Di and I hope you enjoyed "Christmas in July" and all the festive Eggnog that was consumed up in the Treehouse. Still haven't worked out who put a holly sprig on Di's chair as a prank. She jumped up rather quickly, but luckily she didn't spill any of her cocktail in the process! Phew, we got away with it girls!

Remember there's another week of Di's challenge to go, so there's plenty of time to get your homework in on time! Just scroll down to the previous post to find all the details.

Challenge #460

A new challenge now that 'Christmas in July' has finished and we're back to the usual theme of must use snippets - and say which ones you used.

Here are my 'two for the price of one' snippets cards - I was on a roll:

Ooopsie - I cropped part of my watermark out!All the details of how I made it, as well as Dudley's latest 'Pupdate', are over on Pixie's HERE

The prize for this fortnight is:

A set of stamps by Indigo Blu called 'Steampunk Flowers', a Creative Expressions Die and Stamp set called 'Because' (especially nice as the die cut 'because' comes with a shadow die too) plus an unbranded set of  A2 sized 'lace rectangle' dies thrown in for luck! I made a card using my own set of the rectangle dies recently - HERE - and they are great cutters as well as really pretty.

As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday, 19th August. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day. Mr Linky is below this post. Please state what snippets you used on your entry, or add a photo of them, otherwise it won't count in the prize draw. Remember that we do reserve the right to delete non-compliant entries. It's very important to us to keep the Playground as a happy place to come and play - as well as making sure everyone plays nicely and fairly.

Winners outside the UK: please remember that you may be charged fees and import duty on your prize - although Sarn and I always send them out clearly marked as "gifts".

Love and hugs from Di and Dudley,

Results of Challenge #458

Let's leap straight into the three top picks in numerical order for Challenge #458, which was 'Christmas in July':

What a great card from Suzanne H. Loads of snippets which 'gel' together beautifully - and so festive for Christmas! Love it!

Beautiful set of snippets cards from Emma T - a Playmate who is always inspirational in the Playground! I just LOVE mistletoe at Christmas - although, with having Dudley Dog, ours are 'realistic' but artificial. Don't know if it's true about the berries being poisonous or not but we try not to take chances!

And my third choice is from Carrie HERE - who used lots of snippets for her lovely Christmas card. Also, there's a current craze for using six 6" x 6" designer papers, cutting them into a prescribed pattern and then making a bunch of 15 cards incorporating the 'snippets'. Looks like fun - check out Carrie's blog for more detail and links!

The randomly drawn winner of the bundle of Christmas goodies is:

Pauline C

To claim your prize, please send an email using the Snippets Playground email address shown on the RH sidebar, with PLAYGROUND WINNER (or similar) in the subject line. Please add your FULL NAME above your home ADDRESS so that I can copy and paste it for speed and ease.

Don't forget folks, Sarn is still running our final week of 'Christmas in July' Challenge, with a great bundle of goodies to be won - HERE! And no doubt there will be the usual celebrations going on but if Dudley Dog staggers home with his bandana all askew and a silly grin on his face once more during 'Christmas in July' - I shall be having serious words with 'Miss Mischief'! His duties do not include being chief cocktail taster! 😂

Love from Di and Dudley

Challenge #459

Hello Playmates!

Here we go with the final "Christmas in July" challenge where you need to enter your snippets homework using a Christmas theme.

Here's my homework, the details of which can be found on my personal blog HERE:

See below for a picture of the lovely bundle of Christmas goodies you have a chance of winning if you enter a Christmas themed project and leave a comment at the end of this post letting me know you wish to be included in the prize draw.

There are three Memory box Christmas dies; two Woodware stamp sets (a second chance to win those lovely sentiments) and the cute fuzzy robin stamps, as well as a Creative Expressions Christmas Cheer borderline die designed by Lisa Horton.

So what are you waiting for? Christmas? 😄 LOL! Run along and pick out some Christmas snippets to play with, then bring your homework to the Playground and use Mr Linky (below) to submit it for marking! Please remember to SAY WHAT SNIPPETS YOU USED (or include a photo of them) and leave a comment making it clear whether you're playing for fun or want to be included in the draw for the prize.

The Playground gates will clang shut on this challenge at 11am (UK time) on Saturday, 5th August 2023. They'll reopen at midnight the same day for the start of the next challenge. Winners outside the UK: Please remember that you may be charged fees and import duty on your prize - although Di and I always send them out clearly marked as "gifts".

Results of Challenge #457

Hello Playmates - Sarn here - popping back in the middle of Di's challenge, to share my Top Picks and the prize winner for Challenge 457.

Here are my top picks (in entry order):

Maxine's homework (below) was for a commission . . . and what a splendid job she made of this card, involving snippets and stitching. She didn't just stitch the flowers on the card front, ohhh no, she went ahead and did the same for the inside too! A lovely keepsake for such a special occasion for sure.

Carol S bought us a basketful of beautiful flowers (below). Lots of intricate and colourful die cutting going on here. Such a lovely easel card for a special occasion.

I make no apologies for choosing another card with pretty flowers! Alice's beautiful floral card (below)  is a work of art. She even used the leafy die cut negatives to stencil a background. Absolutely gorgeous work.

And . . . yes . . . I just couldn't resist adding a fourth piece of homework as a top pick . . . because Kathy A's little dog image on her card is so like our own Playground Pup Dudley and the sentiments (inside and out) were so cute! Plus she used up a heap of snippets in the process! I think I heard Dudley do a little bark of appreciation and saw him dancing around in circles on his hind legs (because he CAN!).

If you've been showcased, please feel free to collect and display your 'Top Pick' badge from HERE.

Next up: the prize winner of the embossing folder, stencil and stamp set is No. 36:

Kathy K

Congratulations Kathy - a lucky win hot on the heels of your last one! Please claim your prize by sending your name and address details via email using the Snippets Playground email address shown in the sidebar, with PLAYGROUND WINNER in the subject line.

Remember there's still nearly a week of Di's challenge to go. If you haven't submitted a piece of homework yet, just scroll down to the previous post to find all the details.

Challenge #458

A new challenge and a reminder that there is a Christmas theme this time around!

As we forewarned, the next two challenges are designated 'Christmas in July' - each with a bundle of lovely Christmas goodies to be won.

All we ask of you, our playmates, is that your snippets entry has a Christmas theme AND that you stick to the few rules we have and please do tell us what snippets you used.

Here is my festive snippets card:

All the details of how I made it, as well as Dudley's latest 'Pupdate', are over on Pixie's HERE (the little Pickle excelled himself this past week!).

As previously mentioned, the prize for this fortnight comprises a selection of Christmas themed goodies.

They're self-explanatory and are two Memory Box dies, two Woodware stamps/stamp sets and two sentiment die sets. The Gemini 'Merry Christmas' stamps and die set was kindly donated by Linby. I loved it so much that I rushed off and bought one for myself! Everything else is stuff bought for the Toybox since our last Christmas in July challenges.

By the way, my snippets card for today used my own set of the Woodware 'Christmas Sparkle' sentiment stamps - I really love it and am sure you will too!

As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday, 22nd July (which also happens to be Dudley's 5th Birthday!).

Results of Challenge #456

Let's leap straight into the three top picks for Challenge #456, in numerical order:

Carol S brought this fabulous Christmas card to share with us - I love it! Plenty of lovely snippets and a great design - the arched window is beautifully worked with a clever idea to just slightly offset the window die cut onto another window die cut from black. Nice one!

Lesley G came up trumps with her Gummiapan die cuts 'sewing room' scene. The detail is incredible and carefully researched by Lesley - they say the devil is in the detail and it certainly is the little things that make this into such a stunning card. Look at those scissors and the tape measure for example!

Helen consistently makes the most wonderful cards and her colouring and paper choices are always spot-on. I love the added detail of the stitched outlines on the paper layers - once again, it's all in the detail! I also think that Helen must have a seriously big pile of snippets to match everything so beautifully.

The randomly drawn winner of the two sets of stamps with matching dies is:

Ionabunny/Gail

To claim your prize, please send an email using the Snippets Playground email address shown on the RH sidebar, with PLAYGROUND WINNER (or similar) in the subject line. Please add your FULL NAME above your home ADDRESS so that I can copy and paste it for speed and ease.

IMPORTANT NEWS! Sarn and I are going to be doing CHRISTMAS IN JULY themed challenges for the next two challenges - starting NEXT WEEK!

For the July challenges #458 and #459, your entry will need to be CHRISTMAS themed to have a chance of being a Top Pick or to go in the prize draw. We will revert to 'anything goes' again afterwards - but do please play nicely, according to the rules and also our 'Christmas in July' theme - else your entry might be deleted.

Sarn and I will each have a lovely bundle of Christmas craft goodies to offer as prizes. Somehow the Toy Box has accumulated a few Christmas themed prizes, even after we cleared them right out last July!

Love from Di and Dudley

Possible solution to leaving us a comment!

Hi Girls

Di and I like to be able to reply to your comments to make things more fun, or give out useful info and we therefore wish to keep the "embedded" comments on Snippets Playground posts rather than change the comment box to "pop up".

If you have been struggling to leave us a comment, we may just have come up with a solution for some of you - at least if you have an iPhone (and it might work for an iPad too - but I don't have one of those to check out).

So, if you are having problems leaving comments on blogs with embedded comments, the solution MAY be for you to ALLOW cross-site tracking on your iPhone (and possibly the iPad).

Basically, if you go into your iPhone SETTINGS and select your web browser (I use Safari), then scroll down to the PRIVACY & SECURITY section, there is an option that says "Prevent Cross-site Tracking" where I have the radio button switched OFF (i.e. the button is white, not green).

One playmate who was unable to leave us a comment on the blog before she changed her settings to the above subsequently found she was able to comment without any problem - so Di and I thought we would pass on this information in case it helps others.

Challenge #457

Hello Playmates!

It's Sunday morning and time for another exciting challenge in the Snippets Playground. So get your snippets out, make something with them and come on over to play.

I've made an ATC entirely from snippets for my homework (you can see all the details plus an additional bunny card on my personal blog HERE):

The prize for this challenge comprises an embossing folder, a stencil and a set of stamps:

The embossing folder measures 144 mm x 160 mm and is full of musical notes and double clefs; the Aall & Create stencil measures 8" x 6" and the set of foam-mounted red rubber stamps is 8" x 5½". The stamps are larger than shown on the packaging and fill the whole of the plastic storage sheet you can see in the photo (to the top and bottom of the yellow ends). Items were donated by Brenda, Di and myself.

Please add your homework using the Mr Linky tool (below).

Please remember to SAY WHAT SNIPPETS YOU USED (and/or include a photo of them) and leave a comment making it clear whether you're just playing for fun or want to be included in the draw for the prize.

The Playground gates will clang shut on this challenge at 11am (UK time) on Saturday, 8th July 2023, and will reopen at midnight (UK time) the same day for the start of the next challenge. Winners outside the UK: Please remember that you may be charged fees and import duty on your prize - although Di and I always send them out clearly marked as "gifts".

Here are my top picks (in entry order):

First up is Valerija's cute Christmas card made with black and white snippets, plus innovative use of paint chips!

And last, but certainly not least, is Christa's beautiful card full of birds using a variety of coloured snippets.

If you've been showcased, please feel free to collect your 'Top Pick' badge from HERE.

The randomly drawn winner of Challenge 455 is:

Challenge #456

A new challenge and here's my snippets card:

I know that it possibly looks familiar - we had a really lovely 'wave' or 'concentric circles' card in my picks last week made by Susan S using the same technique. I really loved it and decided to have a try for myself, it's a snippets buster for sure! All the details of how I made mine, including Dudley's latest little 'Pickle Pupdate', are over on Pixie's HERE.

The prize for this fortnight is made up of two sets of stamps and their matching dies. The one on the top is by Neat and Tangled and is called 'Little Monster' (cute!) - the one below is by My Favourite Stamps (MFT) and is called 'Banner Day Sentiments'. The matching dies are called 'Banner Flags' -and it's sold as the matching set for a few of the curved sentiments along with the little 'end of strip' dies as well. All items came from the Playground Toy Box:

As always, the Snippets Challenge will run for two weeks and the Playground gates will close at 11am UK time on Saturday, 24th June. The gates will open again at midnight UK time on the same day. Mr Linky is below this post.

Please state what snippets you used on your entry, and/or add a photo of them, otherwise it won't count in the prize draw.

Results of Challenge #454

Let's take a dive straight into the top picks for Challenge #454, in numerical order as usual:

Linby (Lynn) made this really lovely card, immediately using two items from her Snippets Challenge #452 prize win. Talk about quick off the mark and it's always really lovely to see people using their prizes to make a snippets entry. And what a super card as well, very elegant.

This glorious card by TK is a lovely work of art and dedication with SO many snippets used in the design. And a little reminder from TK, Press n Seal clear film is a great way to pick up pieces that you've got laid into an arrangement and transfer them safely onto your card front. Am almost certain the idea originally came from Jennifer McGuire, whose husband invented Press n Seal - Amazon sell the film BTW.

And my final pick this time was made by Susan S. Such a wonderful way to use up snippets and a great reminder of the 'wave' card technique! Always perfect for CAS cards, especially for 'chaps'. One of Len's great-nephews has a Birthday coming up in June and I may very well make him a 'wave' card! Thanks for the timely reminder Susan!

Please take your 'picks' badges for your blogs - if you wish of course - from the top bar.

We had some lovely entries, as always. My short list had five 'picks' on it - but I was strong and whittled them down to the usual three that Sarn and I aim for. It's always heartening when people come to play with us every fortnight - keep it up girls. Mind you, with the warmer weather here I expect the outdoors might be beckoning to a lot of people - make the most of it whilst we've got it! Sunshine can be as rare as hen's teeth in the UK, but when the sun does come out to play it's a total delight!

The randomly drawn winner of the two sets of dies from Positively Papercraft is:

Kathy K

To claim your prize, please send an email using the Snippets Playground email address shown on the RH sidebar, with PLAYGROUND WINNER (or similar) in the subject line. Please add your FULL NAME above your home ADDRESS so that I can copy and paste it for speed and ease.

The current snippets challenge is being hosted by Sarn and still has almost a further week to run - just scroll down to the previous post to find it. There's a very nice prize to be won as well!
